Sterilisation exercise in King George Ave.

Two weeks ago, while purchasing some ball bearing for a prayer wheel, two non-sterilised cats were spotted near Blk 7, King George Avenue. After a friend agreed to help to sterlise these 2 cats. A few days later, I returned and spotted a feeder, Madam Ng, without much difficulty. After talking to the two feeder, we agreed to trap two cats, one male & one female, with the help of a cat trapper on a selected date. On the 17th March, two males were trapped while the third female was unfit for surgery due to flu. The third male was impromptu. On 23rd of March, the two sterilised male cats were released back to their haunts. Thanks to June & Rebecca for their help.

A feeder, Madam Aminah, also requested help for a lady who lived near King George Avenue. Madam Fazilah had 9 cats, five males & four females. All non-sterilised. After seeking help from an oversea acquaintance & an animal welfarist, I contacted madam Fazilah. Four female cats were scheduled to be sent on the 28th March for sterilisation. Kitten rescue in Macpherson

Acting on a tip-off via facebook, this White kitten was spotting hiding in a drainage beside a coffee shop in Macpherson. Informant claimed there was a conversation of a plan to drive this kitten away by scalding it with hot water. A conversation with the shop assistant revealed nothing sinister. After two visits, a simple plan was hatched to trap this cat by luring it into a carrier with food.

After seeking permission from the coffee shop, a carrier was placed near the drainage. After some waiting, with a quick dash, the kitten was safely trapped. The kitten struggled & hissed out of fear. Upon reaching home, it was given a good bath. A first adoption attempt failed . A second adoption attempt was successful as a result of goodwill of several friends & uncanny coincidence. Before this, a foster was contacted by her friend, who worked near the coffee shop, to rescue this kitten after an unsuccessful attempt to do so. When I reached out to an animal welfare friend for help, she reverted me to the above foster. This foster already had a good potential adopter on her list. Every thing went smoothly. My gratitude to Lynn, Lynn Lauren, Haliza & Fareena for their help. A big thank you to the adopter of the White kitty.

A clean & calm kitty. My friend said I was a winner for bathing it immediately upon reaching home without letting it to calm down. I owed my friend a vegetarian Laksa.

Cat sterilisation in Anchorvale Drive

As a result of a tip-off from a feeder, Madam Yati was acquainted. This male cat was sterilised at Mount Pleasant clinic via SPCA voucher back in December.

Madam Yati says this cat does not roam as much as before. There are a few more non-sterilised cats. Counselling is underway to encourage Madam Yati to wire-mesh her gate & windows.

Cat sterilisation at Choa Chu Kang

On the 15th of September, I visited a family who requested assistance on cat sterilisation. These community cats often slept in the flat during the morning. This meant no trapping was needed. On the 21st of September, the cat trapper picked up 6 cats, 3 males & 3 females, for a sterilisation operation. A seventh cat was rejected due to its age. The cats were promptly operated on the same day and returned to Bibik Ani on the following Wednesday.

A big thank you to the sponsor, Bibik Ani as well as Rebecca for making this possible. Another cat is scheduled for sterilisation at a nearby clinic utilising a SPCA voucher.

On the 13th of October, the 7th cat sterilised at Joyous vet with a SPCA voucher. Thanks to Selana’s hubby for the smooth transportation.

2 male cats were sterilised in December, a female cat scheduled for spaying was pregnant so it was not sterilised. Photos are not available for now.

Thanks to Madam Rachel, Auntie Janet, Ah Tee & Rebbecca for their kind assistance. Altogether 4 cats, 3 males & 1 female, are trapped, neutered and release on the 13th & 15th of August respectively.

24th June 2010 – Although the old folks home is closed for good, a group of cats are found inside the compound. With the help of Madam Rohaina, three cats – two males & one females – are trapped, sterilised and returned to the compound. It proves difficult to trap the felines from outside of the gate. An appeal is sent to the management for the next trapping exercise to be carried out within the compound. Thanks to Auntie Janet and Madam Rachel for their support.
